January

Sunday January 4th
Our second Sunday home!
We cuddled up and took lots of pictures while Daddy and the big girls were gone.

Trevor gifted me a new lens for Christmas and even picked up the classic fur throws from Ikea that everyone in 2014-2015 used to take pictures of their babies! It was a requirement.
They got home just in time to join in on the fun! There are so many of these pictures, but this was the first time I had taken pictures of all 3 of my children! They each are doing something different in each picture. Working on getting everyone to look at the same place...

Tuesday January 13th
my visiting teacher knitted her a hat, it was a little big!

Wednesday January 14th

Here's the biggest new home project...landscaping! There was a tree that blocked the view and then we needed more trees to block our neighbor's view of our house. We fixed both problems and added some grass...just in time too...since a few months later the drought mandated laws would have made adding grass impossible!
Previous owners left us the bench, it looks perfect in the yard.
On the day our landscape architect was at our house and looking at this massive tree in our front yard, there also happened to be a Campbell city worker looking at the same species of tree down the road. So they walked over to him and got him to look at our tree. Joe, our landscaper, gave his strong professional opinion that it was rotting and that it was not a matter of IF it would fall but WHEN and that it needed to be removed ASAP. It just so happened that the nice city worker was an assistant city manager specifically over the trees of Campbell! He completely agreed and said that it would come down. Trevor also made sure to mention that the tree was keeping his pregnant wife up at night worrying that it was going to come crashing down into her daughters' room in the front of the house. Absolutely the truth. During a couple rain storms I would come in and watch the tree from their window just praying it would stay up. When we bought the house, the previous owner gave us tips on talking to the city and said that she had tried to get them to take it down, as had the previous owner before her! After Trevor had received verbal confirmation from the city, our guess was that this meant it would take at least a month...it happened the next week! The city sent out two huge tree removal trucks and they got it all done in an afternoon. We didn't have to pay a thing. Our neighbors were in shock. We got done in 1 week what the previous 2 owners couldn't do in 10 years. As they took it down the termites came FLYING out like the monkeys in wizard of oz. The nice men who made our tree disappear told me that the tree was completely rotted inside, and in conjunction with the termites, that it would definitely have fallen on our house eventually.

Check out the angle on that tree!
Tiny baby slept right through it all.
So we had these two huge trucks with cranes and chain saws and wood chippers in addition to our landscapers working in the backyard. It was a BUSY day on Latimer Avenue.
Besides getting rid of termites, and not having a dangerous tree that could fall at any moment, another bonus was that our beautiful house could be seen and we had a better view of the road when backing out too. If only the other neighbors would cut down their darn bush trees.

Friday January 16th
