just another day in paradise

just another day in paradise!

every day we had to go and look at the koi fish with shelby. obsessed.

hmmm. these rocks look interesting.
well, i don't think they were as delicious as she anticipated.

uncle richard is the best. seriously. he didn't even mind helping out while the other boys were golfing. i always emphasize the UNCLE richard when he's hanging out with us girls so that everybody knows he's my brother!

same pose, different baby neice! 2011 and 2009. yes, i know they are such twinners.

swim monkey girl!

sleep cute baby!

all one of us had to do (usually me or mom) was walk her around in the warm water rocking her back and forth and she was out for her nap. pretty perfect. you can still see the water on her legs!

here's shelby's friend of the day. also from the bay area and just shelby's age!

i love how in both pictures their movements were matching!

cora was so cool just sleeping amidst the noise of the resort. gosh i love our stroller.

shelby! stalker mom is looming over you! watch out!

shelby was so thrilled to find a ladybug in hawaii!
since i've trained my girl to be a late riser, we were usually the last ones out at the pool. hawaii tim especially affects those canadian and east coast families whose kids are down at the pool by the time the sun is up! yuck! oh and even though those waterfalls look fun, shelby was terrified of them! so we never had to worry about her jumping into the deep pool. we tried floaties, but my big, strong girl couldn't be buoyed by them!

they were so smart to fill the kid pool with tiny rocks-way better than sand.
next time we say aloha to hawaii this girl will be swimming on her own!

now that cora is crawling so well, the girls have started playing together and making each other laugh. and instead of getting things done while they entertain themselves, i find myself just watching them instead because it's so dang cute!

cora is wearing shelby's hand me downs from our previous hawaii trip! most of the stuff was too big because cora is so much smaller at the same age!

for Christmas the Banyan tree in lahaina was decked out with lights.

it was very simple but still beautiful. they were obviously very careful about hurting their beloved tree/tourist attraction/crazy piece of nature.

miss shelby had so much fun running and hiding in the huge tree.

she even got brett to chase her!

byu had played hawaii over on oahu that day, so brett made sure to show his spirit! we won! yay! and while we were out we met some locals who had gone over for the game too. one was the bishop of the local tongan ward and we all were so happy that byu had done so well.

there's my foot! it's the only proof that i was there. :)

uncle richard and his little buddy. :)

mmmmm. a little late night snack of papaya makes this girl happy!

oh and here she is eating oatmeal for the first time. it was a big hit!

more playtime! i brought over a whole suitcase full of toys and art supplies for shelby's projects, because you can't swim all the time! they loved playing in the room, and with the sounds of the ocean and the view from our huge balcony and a magazine in hand, i was happy too!
