it's summer time.

 august 11th 2011
nothing says summer like a little time in the hot central valley of california. so we gathered up the family and headed to lodi for a little swimming and sunning.
we did some strawberry picking too! yum! baby cora loved searching for berries.

now that is how you pull off a shaved head. work it girl.

as you see, no babies were harmed in the making of that picture.

 my country girl.

 yummy carrots!

 oh orange-y!

 want some carrots?

 no carrots, just petting please.

shelby liked the grapefruit. she called them "super big oranges."

grandma got lots of grapefruits as "presents".

 cutie pies!

cora loves to eat grandma's jewelry. yum yum.

with each passing year, the beautiful landscaping at the lodi house just gets better and bigger! what's fun is that all of it was put in because of our wedding reception. :) so the bigger the trees, the longer we've been married! 7 years in May baby!

nice grapefruits girlfriend.

lazy summer day in cute summer dresses.

 kiss goodbye.

 see ya cora!

oh my goodness i love these legs.

 and this cute face!

now what is cora watching here?

ah yes, a very intense ping pong match between son-in-law and father-in-law. could get interesting!

the kitty tried to get a drink and promptly fell in. i was laughing too hard to take pictures. poor kitty.

but kitty had the right idea. it was time to go swimming! it was cora's first time in the pool, and she was not a huge fan. floaties were a first for shelby too. this was actually the only time we went swimming this summer! i guess that's what happens with a newborn. there was just no way i could take them both to a pool by myself. next summer though we will be all over it. and hopefully by then cora will love it.

richard tried his best to get cora to enjoy herself
while also tanning his arms.

i don't know who won, but they both were very ready for the pool after such a heated match.

go shelby!

brett had a tournament and missed out on our summer fun.
he was missed!

hello cute baby.

what is cuter than a little girl in pink floaties? love it.
she mostly just walked back and forth on the steps and made me nervous. she didn't really want to swim much.

and this girl just wanted O-U-T.

shelby especially didn't want to try going under the water.
so we stuck to blowing bubbles.

finally, i'm safe. thank you.

mind if i take a nap right here grandpa?

thanks.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

after a little snooze, the great grandparents arrived.

and we got a yummy bbq lunch ready.

this ladybug is how i got shelby out of the pool.
they really are lucky!

she kept telling the bug "hop on!"

lunch time! food always tastes better after a good swim.

we are not vegetarians.

cora's bald head just begs to be kissed.

go ahead.

you can kiss the screen if you want.

pink coordinating cookie of course.

she told me that it was delicious.

good times. swimming, cookie, uncle richard.
uncle richard is the best.

his nieces love him so much!
