the shelby

the shelby is so much fun. here are a few of her favorite things.
riding on daddy, especially instead of going to bed.
he is sometimes a horse, sometimes an elephant or cheetah or giraffe, depending on her mood.
shelby loves daddy.
and she loves to dress up. can you guess just how many pieces of dress-up clothes she has on?
well, she has butterfly wings, a flower lei, a sleeping beauty dress, a cinderella dress and three tutus-purple, green and pink. wow. 7.

shelby loves animals. she isn't scared of them, even when they are 3 times her size! uncle richard had to save her from uncle todd's dog who came over to visit her in lodi.
she sure loves animals.
and uncle richard. she asks to go over to his house often.
shelby loves to paint.
and she hates to stop painting. it's quite traumatic.
shelby loves to bake cookies. last week we even colored a can of frosting different colors. she chose each color of food dye and she loved mixing them up. these bright colors totally remind me of that scene in the movie hook when they have a huge dinner and then a food fight. it's my fave scene of that movie.
we also put all the colors of sprinkles on our cookies.
i let her go crazy on the cookies since we weren't planning on eating any.
they looked pretty gross, i mean colorful!
here is the other half of the cookie dough. i had to fight to get any cookies in the oven. i dumped out all the old halloween sprinkles and basically let her treat it like play dough that you can snack on!
another favorite pastime of shelby's is to throw books into her crib and then climb in and read for a while.
i love hearing her read to herself, saying the book just the way i read it to her. "the pigeon wants a puppy" is definitely her current favorite.
apparently i embarrass her.
shelby got a little plastic birthday cake set for her kitchen that came with a crown.
here's how this went down. she got the cake and set it up on the table with a candle. then she got her happy birthday crown. then she got our little video camera and handed it to me. clever. then she sang "happy birthday to shelby!" over and over at the top of her lungs until i finally said, "make a wish and blow out the candles!" she closed her eyes for a second- making a wish, and then blew out her candle.
and then she repeated that about 5 times. at one point she decided her minnie hat was needed for some reason too. it was so fun and i am so glad i was able to record it, since she told me to and all!
shelby hates wearing pants, but she loves to jump in her crib. luckily just during the day. she also loves her rapunzel pajamas from grandma cindy.
and you know what i love? her room. but later this week miss shelby will have her stuff moved over to her big girl room! and then we can put up baby girl's name!
these pom poms will be staying with baby girl. they are over the changing table because they were fun to look at for miss shelby. hopefully the new miss thompson will like them too.
i can't believe my baby girl is so big! i remember when she fit in those little outfits. the pink and white dress was the first dress she wore to church. the next dress and sweater was a gift and they both have her monogram on it. too bad we won't be using an s name for the next baby! and finally her first giants outfit, pink of course. ah memories.

I'm curious as to what bedding you ultimately decided on for Shelby's new room. Can't wait to see it!
