more shelby stuff

shelby is quite the morning person. so happy and cute. when she wakes up, i ask her how she slept, and she always says good. then trevor or i ask her what she dreamed about. i should keep a better record of the things she says because they are always different.
examples: the snow monster got the flamingo! the dingos are coming! george (as in curious) needs a key! the panda needs bamboo! oh no tinkerbell! sleeping beauty watch out for the mean dragon!
basically all of her dreams involve danger.
she also often asks for pink ice cream when she wakes up.
pink strawberry yogurt is a good substitute luckily.
mornings are a very happy time around our house.
and just a comment on the "pink blankets."
my mom got shelby the bunny blanket for her first easter in 2009. it was instantly her favorite. i went to babies r us and looked for an extra but they were gone. so i got a pink flower one as a back-up.
but instead of a back up, the pink blankets became a pair and she needs both of them. i am forever grateful to my mom for finding shelby's instant calming devices. and this friday for the first time ever i was able to wash them while she watched! she even helped me load them in the dryer and then told me about how they were spinning and getting very dizzy. also, i love how her blankets turn her back into my little baby girl. thank you blankets and special mention goes to the thumb, because that thing is with us no matter where we are!
also, back in november, we tried to find a volcano book for shelby while out Christmas shopping. she loves loves loves volcanoes and thinks all the hills and mountains around us are volcanoes that are shaking!!!!!! (she says "shaking" while making herself shiver and clenching her fists.)
the only book was a part of a volcano kit.
trevor thought that sounded fun, so we got it and put it together for us, i mean shelby.
and with high expectations we started the eruption!
meh. a little disappointing. especially the fact that shelby was totally not interested. she knew volcanoes were big and this was definitely small.
oh well, it was a fun family home evening activity anyway!
oh and trevor doesn't like it when i take pictures of him.
but this was too cute, shelby with her pink princess blanket and daddy with his giants blanket and
x-box controller. shelby doesn't mind a little call of duty on saturday monings.
shelby sure loves her daddy! every time she hears a garage door open at one of our neighbor's homes she yells "DADDY'S HOME!" and races downstairs to see if he's there. and she loves to tell him to look at whatever she is doing and will continue over and over until he responds. any time he has tools out, she loves to "help daddy" and hands him a wrench or hammer. and she loves to make him "do the airplane" when she is eating and make her spoon fly. they also love to "hide from mommy" and make me find them. we both love it when daddy comes home!
