cake, momma, cake.

a little before her birthday i had a great idea to make a cake with shelby.
the house was clean, trevor was working, and i was feeling pretty good that day!
and let's be real, i so was craving a funfetti cake. yum.
my dream! baking with my little girl.
pink!
blue! (remember from sleeping beauty? we like that part.)
shelby made lovely sprinkle mixes, and then ate them.
also, check out our matching aprons. they're from my mom of course! shelby likes to get them out of the apron drawer and ask/beg/plead/cry about making more cake.

but are you ready to see the final product? be afraid.

yes, this is what happens when
a. you can't wait for the cake to be cool before you frost it and your frosting melts but who cares 'cause it still tastes the same.
b. you let your sprinkle-loving 2 year old daughter decorate the cake and then the top of the blue sprinkles comes off.
c. you are pregnant and you don't care about cutting slices of cake and instead stand at the counter with your toddler and eat with a spoon or fork or (sad, but true) your fingers!
oh and those hole marks? shelby had a brilliant idea to eat the cake using straws. it's not very effective if you are considering trying it.
and i have to tell you.
it was so delicious. martha ain't got nothing on me. baking from scratch. puh-lease. gimme a box mix! though i did use a martha recipe for the frosting. canned frosting is yucky. oh and yes, the shirt was planned to match the sprinkles.

Too cute! I can't wait till Holland is a little older and we can bake cookies and stuff together - and beautifully decorate with sprinkles :) Congrats on being pregnant too!!! (I just read that post) Hopefully you're getting some energy back and this will be an easy pregnancy. Congrats!

Cute cooking/baking together. I love your comments- as always. So truthful & so descriptive. I would take a piece of that cake right about now.
