Why is this pink princess so happy? Well, because we were on our way to the beach house with our best friend neighbors! Trevor and my parents (and Richard too) were all in Vegas for our company convention all week! And Allison's husband was deep in 49er training camp. So the moms thought it would be a good idea to take all 6 kids to the beach! It was definitely fun and totally exhausting. I admit that it was a little ambitious to try to take 6 kids under 7 on vacation with only 2 adults, but we did it! Moms are the BEST!
These three have begged us to have sleepovers so many times, and on this trip they finally they got their wish! They alternated between watching Megamind and episodes of How To Train Your Dragon: Riders of Berk at night. Here they are watching cartoons at Jack in the Box. Do not disturb!
She is so happy right now!
We drove there separately because we had too much stuff (wayyyy too much, Allison and I are very similar in that we like to be over-prepared!), but for the rest of the week we all rode in Allison's minivan! Party time! The first night we ate at Village Host pizza and the kids had the whole place to themselves thank goodness!
The next day we went to the Boardwalk! It was sunny but cold and windy, so a typical summer day in Santa Cruz. Because of the only 2 adults thing we only rode the carousel. The kids were pretty excited just to be there together luckily!
The side by side stroller didn't work out as well as we had plannned because the two year old "twins" were constantly bothering each other! Oh well, we tried!
mmmmm. funnel cakes. They were nice and warm!
I didn't get a picture of all 3 high chairs, darn it! There is one at the beach house and we each brought one from home too! The only way to get these busy bodies to eat is to lock 'em down!
Good morning! The next day dawned cool, but eventually we saw the sun and headed for the beach! It was a perfect Norcal beach day. Warm but not hot, no wind, cool ocean, a sea otter and a seal played in the waves right in front of us and we could see dolphins farther out. There was only one other family near us but they left after a few minutes so we had the whole place to ourselves. The kids were in heaven just running in the surf, asking about the cement ship, digging in the sand, eating the sand (baby connor), covering their whole body in sand (shelby-allison nicknamed her sand pants) and posing for pictures of course!
The next day we packed up and headed home but had to stop at Gizdich Farms on the way! They make the lunch I think they serve in heaven: an fresh pressed apple juice slushie with a sandwich made on a homemade french roll, fresh strawberries in syrup, chips, a freshly made chocolate chip cookie, and of course a slice of pie for Cora. It was a very quiet lunch!
Someone likes to have her toes feel the dirt, just like her momma! Allison and the boys headed home after lunch while the three of us stayed to pick berries! So fun! A great ending to a great trip!
