We started our summer off right by attending an ice cream party! A friend from church has a tradition of throwing a swim (sorta) and ice cream (also sorta) party on the first day of summer every year.
So by "sorta" ice cream, i mean that the ice cream is dairy free because my friend's daughter has such severe allergies that she has to eat completely vegan. So the ice cream was home made with coconut milk, which means that even though the flavors were cookies and cream and cake batter they also were very coconut-y. There were so delicious! Cora and Shelby were a little bit confused by the flavor at first, but they got past it!
Also, swimming actually meant, a hose, slide and deflated baby pool. It was perfect! The kids were all so happy. Actual swimming in a pool is such a pain!
Here's the hostess Tish, her daughter Tia, and one of her 4 year old twin boys. I can't tell them apart, so maybe that's Luke or maybe Alex!
They were quite the ice cream serving team!
We have a fun ward with lots of kids.
Jack Jack (as Cora calls him) also eats a vegan diet with his mom and dad (not because of allergies, just for funsies apparently) so the coconut didn't phase him one bit!
This girl was way too busy to eat ice cream!
Eventually she remembered why we were there and had a few scoops!
Chalk a palooza! The kids were absolutely covered in it by the end!
Looking good Cora!
You too Alex!
We closed the place down. They never wanted to leave!
Eventually they got tired. I'm looking forward to a summer where they get to use all their energy!
It was way too hot to cook, so we headed over to grab some in-n-out and it was a perfect day!
Say cheeseburger!
The next day a girl from church had a fun Dora birthday party with a scavenger hunt that Shelby still talks about. Another day, same bathing suit! It's Shelby's favorite, she would probably wear it every day if I let her. The best part of the party was the Dora pinata. It's always weird to ask the kids to beat the candy out of person pinata right? The kids didn't seem to see any moral problems with it though.
Yay! Dora's insides are filled with candy! Sure glad we beat her with a bat!
