we moved on a tuesday and by the next day at 12:30 shelby was at her first day of preschool 2012! yowza. a few weeks beforehand, i toured three different schools, and after much thought we chose for her to go to stratford, a private PreK-8 school. i love their balance of academic focus and fun and that the nearest campus is only 6 minutes from our house. shelby LOVES her new school and was so happy about meeting new friends and playing on the awesome playground. such an easygoing girl!
one of her favorite things about her new school is that "they are on tv" which just means that they advertise on pbs during her favorite shows. she freaks out every single time she sees their ad.
school is from 12:30-3:30 MWF, right during nap time! yay for me! i love it.
she has two wonderful teachers as well as a spanish and science teacher.
so far, miss sandy, the science teacher, is her favorite.
she made new friends quickly, and it warms my heart when i go to pick her up
and all her little friends have to come over and hug her goodbye.
another fun thing about stratford is that it was started in 1999 by administrators and teachers who previously worked in the challenger private school system, which i was in until 4th grade. some of the people i met in the stratford office were SO excited that shelby was the child of a challenger alumni. i was one of the first they've had- people sure aren't having kids young enough!
i took this picture real quick in the parking lot on our way inside. since shelby started the school year a few weeks late, i didn't get to do all of the pictures at school like i wanted. i was going to at least try, but after i took this pic, trevor said i was the MOST embarrassing mom ever. fine. so i stopped.
on friday the 19th i had my first parent-teacher conference ever!
they told me that she is an amazing artist, loves to sing, is popular, but that she doesn't like boys-at all.
sounds good to me! stay away from boys!
my big girls. two more years until cora goes to school!
for now we just hang out after her nap and catch up on our chores.
my baby and me!
when school is over she is super excited to see shelby and they always give each other big hugs.
after the craziness of moving it's SO nice to be back into a happy routine.
every friday they have a special show and tell day, like bring something that starts with the letter "m" (which resulted in many girls-including shelby-bringing ariel the mermaid to school. ha!) and sometimes they also get to wear special things too. like clothes from their favorite season-shelby chose fall, or their favorite color, or like last friday, the whole school wore san francisco giants gear!
we love schooooool!
