even though my stress level was pretty high and we were moving shortly,
we still didn't miss the grape festival with grandpa lou.
he is so funny about taking pictures! like a little kid!
here's the mural that used some of grandpa's grapes!
our cousins grapes were out in full force this year.
shelby LOVED seeing all the murals and scarecrows and wanted pictures with these two the most!
i've always loved these paintings.
it was hard work keeping the kids from sneaking grapes.
and touching the murals, not a good idea because the grapes are all oily/glitterly/painted and fragile!
lucky for shelby, the local 4h had a mural in progress.
of course, mom knew some of the ladies from her days in the lodi 4h so shelby got the chance to help!
this year, all over the hall, they had dresses from past grape festival princesses and queens.
here's the dresses from my mom's senior year!
the queen was rhonda (center in white), one of my mom's best friends from high school. :) these dresses were so nice compared to the mostly crazy ones from the 60's and 70's!
let's pet some animals!
and ride them too!
cora wanted a turn.
yay!
the horses went kinda fast and mom really had to move to keep up! i forgot the horses names immediately, but shelby just told me, two months later, that they were named diamond and ladybug.
tickets please!
i think that the grape festival and the boardwalk tie for scary fellow patrons.
shelby enjoyed meeting a new friend on the ferris wheel.
she told me that her friend was very scared but she helped her be brave.
why don't merry go rounds have seat belts anymore???
because this thing was fast!
cora's sure not a daredevil like miss shelby.
but she's still pretty crazy-especially when you try to make her sit in a stroller.
cotton candy appetizer anyone?
dinner time! yum.
the fly swatters were a hit with my kids. thanks clark pest control!
grandma couldn't help herself and marched the cute grand kids over to pick out some toys.
you could hear shelby coming from a mile away. only grandma....
oh and that fairy wand thing that lights up and plays music? well the music has words-but they were in an unidentifiable asian language! both the horn and the wand may or may not have been "lost" in the move.
hooray for the grape festival!
