shelby loves science. just ask her! animals, fish, volcanoes, planets, sharks, plants, and on and on. also phineas and ferb love science which helped. so when daddy told her that we were going to "the science place" aka the california academy of science-she was stoked. we had never been there, but a friend invited us to along with him and his kids. in short-the place is AMAZING. how have i never been there? lame!
while trevor and shelby went in the new earthquake exhibit ride,
cora and i checked out the baby ostriches! i want one! noooow!
this one was feisty.
look! the mama! :) science is fun!
check THAT out. inside the dome is a rain forest with butterflies, birds, and all sorts of amazing plants and reptiles and fish and it's super hot and muggy. you have to see it to believe it.
so you go in, and go around all the way to the top...
then an elevator takes you underneath the rainforest "river" of gigantic fish to the aquarium!
the aquarium was huge, and i wish i could have taken my time, but cora was in a big hurry to run away from me. i'm excited to go back.
our favorite part of the day was the albino alligator. creepiest thing i've ever seen.
he had red eyes!
near these rays there was a planatarium and live penguins and all sorts of stuffed animals and on and on. the architecture was so gorgeous. our friend lauren's husband jackson works for the construction company that built this place. it was finished in 2008.
oh and the roof is alive.
after we were done, we went out to the park to let the kids run around.
(which i immediately recognized from the wedding planner-i need to get out more)
shelby then drew pictures of her new friends.
gavin!
elise!
even though they live in san ramon, our friends hadn't been to the pier 39! so we braved the heavy winds and incoming fog and got yummy kid food.
shelby was so diappointed that it wasn't seal season.
but the science place was definitely a hit! she's been begging to go back ever since.
