alameda county fair 2012

the alameda county fair was celebrating it's 100th year this time around, and we were so excited to make the 5 minute drive over to the fairgrounds! cora was excited  to have grandma there to chase her.

the first thing shelby wanted to do was ride the dragon roller coaster, but only with kortnie! i couldn't stop taking pictures of her happy face. the girl is a daredevil!

i love how the girls in front of them are screaming and clinging to the bar!

next up was the ferris wheel

-with kortnie.

even though this was the kiddie version, it still went pretty darn high!

maybe next year cora?

while they were spinning the rest of us got down to business. forget the rides. where's the food?

look at cora's cute hand sneaking a curly fry! after eating our fill, it was time to see some farm animals! yay!

cora was thrilled. my favorite part was seeing the mega pregnant pig who was due any minute.
if you looked close you could see her piglets moving!

the bunnies seemed so scared of trevor-they must have heard that he and the 16-18 year old boys from church killed, skinned, and ate a rabbit at high adventure a few weeks before! so manly. seriously though, bunnies, you should be terrified!

she seemed to be on a mission to get a bird or bunny to bite her.
those teeny fingers fit perfectly in the cages. cora loved quacking at all the birds. communicating well i think.

the petting zoo was packed, but it was still heaven for this little one year old.

these deer were ridiculous! they hounded everyone for food and kept nibbling on my scarf!

i want a baby goat!

baby in one hand, iphone camera in the other. typical.

so fun to have evidence that i was there! and hooray again for wearing a scarf and sweater in june!

they had a great play area where parents could relax for a bit.
we could see the concert from there too. people were rocking out! i love the fair.

train ride time with grandma and grandpa!

trevor and i had a 5 minute mini date. :)

then, as always, we had to play one game, mom's favorite, the water shooter balloon popper game.
shelby won! the carnie lady had her sit in the chair that always wins because the water shooter has good aim or something. trevor had figured it out after watching people before us and he gave up his find rather reluctantly! haha! so competitive!

shelby had wanted to go on the big swings in the adult/teenager ride area. but she was too short, and also my heart probably couldn't have taken it. so this one was perfect!

daddies don't get any cuter than trevor!

cora wasn't completely sure about this carousel. it was her first ride!

i think this look means..."why is eveything spinning?"

and here maybe "why does mom keeping waving at me? i can't wave back! i'm holding on for dear life!"
then the caterpillar roller coaster had shelby's name on it for sure.

daddy and shelby: roller coaster buddies!

the fog started rolling in, so we headed over for some warm funnel cakes and hot chocolate for mom. dad had never had a funnel cake before! so we all got something different and shared: cinnamon sugar, strawberries, and cinammon apples. mmmm.

the place was really getting busy when we were leaving. it was going to be a fun night at the fair! they had fireworks a few times during the fair too, and we could even see them from dublin. the fair itself went on from june 20th- july 8th. doesn't that seem extra long?

until next year!

glad we brought sweatshirts!
