mother's day!

for weeks shelby's class had been practicing for a special mother's day performance. on one of my parent helper days i got to see a preview and it was of course priceless. at her Christmas performance, shelby was overwhelmed by the audience and sat on her mat instead of singing so i tried to keep my expectations low. just in case!
but oh boy, was i in for a treat here! she was a shining star!

two weeks before this, i was packing for a beach house trip, trying to clean, and keep up with this and that, trevor was working, i was totally overwhelmed, and was even crying a little, and shelby comes into my room and starts singing "i love you mommy, oh yes i do, i love you mommy, and i'll be true, when you're not with me, i'm blue! oh mommy, i.love.youuuuu." i cried big, happy tears after that and called my mom immediately to tell her! shelby is the sweetest, most thoughtful girl in the world. i'm so lucky.
i know her eyes are closed, but she is doing such a perfect crocodile that i had to include it! that was their warm up song while they were waiting for some late parents. (trevor was one of them!!!)

okay back to the performance. they sang, "i love you mommy", "love somebody, yes i do", and "you are my sunshine."
she sang loud and proud! about 5 of the other kids didn't sing a single note! :)

after they finished their last song, shelby ran over to me, gave me her handmade card and said "happy mother's day." life doesn't get much better!

i'm keeping this card forever! if i can get it back from shelby that is, who said that she wants to keep it in her room, because "it's pink, my favorite color." which, as anyone who spends more than 5 minutes around her, hears her say at least twice. she has told me that pink is her favorite color roughly a billion times. shelby-darling-i know! i won't ever forget! i promise!

the after party with kyndal and khloe was off the hook!
i love how the other set of sisters were color coordinated too.

yay grandma! thank goodness my mom was there since trevor (through no fault of his own) was late! she held cora so i could video and take pictures-at the same time!

shelby deserved some playtime at grandma's house after that amazing performance!

nothings better than a cora cuddle. it's all the mother's day present that grandma needed!

do you like my play dough hat?

uh oh! no eating play dough silly girl!

shelby thinks cora is hilarious!

stop laughing at me!

playdough feels good between your toes. (we go through alot of this stuff!)

ewww
it doesn't happen very often but sometimes shelby will tell me "mooooom, cora is messing my project/my tower/my castle/etc. up!" the artist's creations must not be disturbed!

uncle brett got home from playing golf and shelby was ECSTATIC to see that he was wearing her favorite color!

we sure love uncle brett and his bold fashion choices!
the boy can really pull off pink!

ok here we go...Mother's Day in Primary, one of the craziest days of the year. go figure! this year we had the young women come in and give all the moms (except the presidency) a chance to go to relief society. to be honest if i had the day off and had to sit still i really don't know what i would do! we don't fit in one room as a primary, so it was extra crazy having them all together for just this Sunday. we did our annual "mystery moms" game with 4 moms hidden behind a curtain and answering questions in disguised voices. the older kids figured out their moms pretty quick, but the youngest ones didn't realize who they were until we did the big reveal at the end. but still, young or old, the way their faces lit up when they saw that it was THEIR mom still gives me chills when i think about it. i LOVE that game! the moms love it too, they have a blast! they could hear the sunbeams little comments during the game and said they were priceless.

oh but the popcorn. why did we give them popcorn? it was everywhere! thank goodness for the men and a big vacuum! it was especially stressful because one of our 4 year olds has a massive, scary milk allergy.  i was so worried about any of it touching him, i wanted him to walk around on the chairs. (i was watching zach like a hawk chantalle!) he was so good about it, he's wise beyond his almost 5 years! we also have a 6 year old massive, scary peanut allergy, so along with the popcorn we just had red vines, the remainder of which somehow disappeared with the young women after it was all done. perhaps they thought it was their fee.

we are NOT having any snack this Father's Day. sorry kids. Forget it! but we are doing mystery dads. YAY! i love many things about this pictures. Lauren, our newly minted primary president, looking at the chaos. her daughter, bella, in the front, just drawing, decorating her mother's day card, completely oblivious. shelby, in the orange skirt, my favorite of her church outfits, holding her blanket because it was one of those days! the kids did a great job on their cards and i think they had a great time.

poor trevor was so sick on mother's day, but he did his best to make it special. i love picking out my own gifts, so i ordered some more books for my colorful collection. this girl sure loves amazon.com! and i received a beautiful necklace from my thoughtful mother. i love it! i am one lucky mom. it's the best job in the world.

Everyday I visit your blog to see what's going on with the grand-kids. You never let me down and this blog pinched my emotions as well. Thanks, and we will see you tomorrow.
