zoo day

"okay guys. i have the map. i'll tell you where we are going."

bossiness has never been so cute.

apparently we were all in the same color mood that day.

it was an unbelievable january day. 70s in oakland, sunny and perfect.

tickle tickle cora!

cutie pie

matchy matchy mother daughter shoes!

i'll never get over how gross those baboon butts are!

more animals. whatevs. i have my water.

shelby loves zebras but she's not showing it.

they had stripes just like her! she was excited, i promise.

if you look closely in the shadows you can see the lion! it was a first for me at this zoo.
he's always sleeping!

hi giraffes! cora's headband doubles as a necklace. nice.

want a french fry?

no really! take one!

shelby is dancing a jig because she got to see the snakes and frogs and lizards. silly girl.

dude. bats are ugly.

this was so fun.

cora wanted to touch every animal in the petting zoo.

and by touch i mean grab with all the strength she could muster. after we left, she kept turning around and pointing back towards the petting zoo and making cute noises until i finally brought her back. she laughed the hardest ever in her whole life when the sheep ran out of the little barn and out onto the grass. i have never seen her so happy! we need to buy a farm!

oh and p.s. they have a bunch of cats living at the zoo! they were fluffy and cute. you couldn't pet them, but one of the workers told me that they take the cats out on leashes around the zoo! hilarious! i bet they don't like that much!

there's no way i could have done a day at the zoo on my own without my mom.

i may have two arms, but two kids definitely need two people for this kinds of outing.

shelby really wanted to see the bugs, so grandma went in with her. but she so desparately wanted to show me too. she told me "you have to be brave mom." yuck. ants, tarantulas, humungous cockroaches and stick bugs. i'm getting the chills and the creepy crawlies just typing about it. they keep it super warm in the bug building too. i started feeling faint. sorry shelby, momma is not very brave when it comes to bugs! you are one cool girl though.

elephant time!

cora was so excited!

cora's pointing is just so cute. she is very good at telling us exactly what she wants.

she sure loves her big sister!

or maybe just her bow.

afterwards we went on a couple rides.

i even got to go on one! yay!

me and my oldest child. what a great day we had! thanks grandma! after that day the weather got cold again so we were so glad that we did it and that i finally used our one year pass.
