while we were in hawaii, about halfway through our vacation, trevor got a text from a friend in our ward about a tragedy that had happened that day. trevor had to tell me twice and even then i didn't believe it. a young father in our ward, our bishop's oldest son, named jared, aged 27, had died in his sleep. there was no cause of death. he was just gone, leaving behind a 17 month old darling little girl named Reese and a beautiful, pregnant wife, age 23, due to have their new baby girl, Jaclyn, in january. they had been living with the bishop and his wife while jared was preparing for law school.
tiff is also trevor's cousin, her grandfather and trevor's grandma mary are brother and sister. since tiff grew up in oregon, they didn't grow up together or anything, but they do call each other cuz. :) trevor worked with jared in young mens, tiff was in young women's and she is so young and fun that sometimes people mistook her for one of the girls! we had always meant to hang out, it was one of those things, oh! we should get together! but we were all busy with work and kids and i am sad that we never did.
our ward has of course been deeply affected by this, watching our bishop lose his son, tiff lose her husband, and little reese lose her daddy. they set up a legacy site for jared that you can look at here
be sure to watch the video about jared that they showed during his memorial as well as the video of tiff having her beautiful baby girl jaclyn just this month. get a big ol' box tissues, and have your husband close by and ready to hug.
on a more personal side, jared's cousin, tiff's best friend, is a photographer and has posted more pictures, stories, videos on her blog. she shares many tender mercies and special memories. Here is the post about Jaclyn's birth and about Jared's passing
in talking with friends in my ward, we all said the same things, that we weren't going to take any day for granted, that were going to treasure every moment with our family, and that we were definitely going to cuddle with our husband for a few hours.

Very thoughtful Alisha. I Love You.
in my opinion, THE saddest thing in the world is when young people die unexpectedly. i'm so sorry for your friends:( he sounds like a wonderful person. such a tragic thing...we're so lucky to have the gospel. ♥
