halloween

halloween night was spent at my mom and dad's house. we all pitched in on the decorations. shelby helped with the pumpkins and then handed out candy eyeballs!

then she got a wee bit scared of richard and
trevor's spooky decorations.

the hanging ghost was on a rope that swung back and forth and made spooky sounds when you walked past it. we also had strobe lights and a...

wait for it....

fog machine!

for dinner we had chicken, homemade mac&cheese, and mummy dogs, which were surprisingly delicious!

richard tried on my hat for a moment, but he and brett mostly played ping pong the whole night while dad handed out candy at the door.

while this little witch went out in search of candy!

don't you love her hair?

daddy got it for her and she was SUPER DUPER excited about wearing pink hair with her costume.

cora girl was dressed nice and cozy for her first trick or treating adventure. lucky for us it was an absolutely perfect night. we had unbelievable weather. i actually got a little hot walking around! we were so lucky, because every night since then has been freezing.

here's your broom little witch!

shelby let me wear the hat that came with her costume. it was too big for her, but it was perfect for me. thanks pottery barn kids!

the time was finally here! it was her first real trick or treating adventure. this year she understood what it meant and she was excited. me too!

looks like the camera caught me doing a crazy mom look at shelby. i think i am trying to get her to smile, look at her reaction! not happening! let's get moving already, mom!

i carried cora the entire night, which she loved. trevor and grandma cindy walked with us too. shelby did so amazing, always saying trick or treat and then thank you. last year she was very shy. also she never once tried to grab too many candies. because she was so cute, people actually kept giving her extra! at a few houses we had to stay by the door while they went and got the rest of the people in the house to come and see the little witch and the angry bird. they were such a big hit. i mean of course they are cute, but also they were quite refreshing after handing candy out to huge groups of high school and junior high kids. people also kept giving me candy for cora. really? but i guess it was actually candy for me as a reward for having such darling kids.

afterwards shelby and grandma decorated a few cookies.

and grandpa cleaned the kitchen and did the dishes, because he's awesome.

don't you love my mom's costume? such a cute kitty!

cora was her normal, happy self. not angry at all!

the boys continued to play ping pong.

we watched a few matches.

haha. cora really wanted some of shelby's ice cream.

so to protect herself, shelby shoved it all in her mouth!

wow.

um. yuck.

good one cora!

we were up so late that we had to wait until the next day to sort and organize and admire the loot!

best halloween ever!
