the birth day

on shelby's actual birthday we took her to the aquarium
in san francisco!

we had never been to the "aquarium of the bay" so it was an adventure for the whole family.

cora was especially psyched.

after hearing they had sharks,
we knew it was the perfect place to go.

the tunnels were definitely shelby's favorite.

the birthday girl was constantly in motion and loved every minute of her time "under the ocean."

cora was content in her car seat and enjoyed being admired. nothing is better for a mom than going places and having lots of people telling you that your kids are cute! love it!

the whole day was trevor's idea. he is so excited for shelby to be old enough to really enjoy things like this.

they are such buddies.

"i love you daddy."

there were other non-ocean dwelling animals at the aquarium too. shelby has talked about this hedgehog for months since.

this was just her size.

awww, he came to wish you happy birthday shelby!

ah yes, a blue-tounged skink.
she knew immediately what it was because i often do flash cards of all living species of animals with her, haha, just kidding, a skink was featured on go diego go. or as shelby still calls it, diego go go go.

fun times at the aquarium of the bay!

3 years ago at this time my smile looked like this:

hello prego lady!
there i am, walking around, trying to be induced.

it was all worth it to have this amazing girl.
you're welcome world.

it was a beautiful august day in the city.

meaning that shelby had to wear her giants sweatshirt. love it.

oh and i also love my double wide. it is so maneuverable, fits perfectly through doorways, the girls love sitting next to each other, and they occasionally hold hands.

um, can you spot the tourists?

shelby named these the "stinky seals."

i have to agree with that! they were so smelly!

for lunch we stopped by pizza my heart and teacake bake shop in emeryville. not really because shelby wanted to, but because on the birth day, i deserve a treat too. who had the failed all day induction+c-section. yeah, me. so i get to choose where we eat!
one for each of us. next year you can have one cora!
for now you just get cupcake infused breast milk!
happy 3rd birthday shelby!
close your eyes. make a wish.
blow out your candles.
great job!
woo hoo! you're three!
celebrate!
my bestest friend.
i love her so much.
the cupcake was pink velvet, perfect for our pink obsessed girl. not that it mattered since shelby only eats frosting anyway.

for dinner we ate at chevy's.
also my choice. but at least she got a big sombrero out of it!

she wouldn't wear it at the restaurant, but for the next few days she would wear it and sing a song from dora about chocolate.

wait, why doesn't it fit cute girl?

ah yes, that's why. silly blanket.
my big 3 year old.
i'm so proud to be her mom!
shelby ann is funny, smart, athletic, beautiful, creative, kind, compassionate, happy, curious, energized, brave, and so sweet.
