a hunting we will go

it was a beautiful day last saturday in fresno,
and lucky for us we made it just in time for the easter egg hunt to start at copper river country club. like we had to run. we forgot that this wasn't at our church, where if we said the hunt started at 11 it would actually start at 11:30. not here! they started at 11 on the dot!
but because we were late we ended up right near the entrance which for some reason had barely any kids! it was like shelby's own personal play land.
i coached her from the sidelines.
brett and my mom had done a little prep work the day before, having her run egg hunt drills. she was ready.
but she wasn't in a super hurry for some reason.
i think it was a little overwhelming.
but guess how sweet my little girl is?
she started helping other kids and put eggs in their baskets!
the hunt was for 2-3 year olds, but she seemed to be one of the oldest there. every other parent had to help. and there were a bunch of kids that were crying!
i was so proud of shelby.
and so was grandma! she and i were the only ones to witness it because the guys had to drop us off so that we could make it in time. luckily i took enough pictures for everyone to feel like they were there.
cheese shelby and grandma!
then the fun began, it was time to open up the eggs!
the first thing she found was a cute, plastic, orange watch! fun!
shelby's first egg hunt.
want one? she is so good at sharing!
i'm so proud!
bummer for us, the candy was gross, but there was play dough! score!
the next age group went after we were done. they were way more agressive. we are going to have to do more training next year!
not an egg in sight!
oh look, that's me in yellow.
shelby did not like the easter bunny at all.
i thought he was cute, especially since it was trevor's cousin colton inside that bunny suit! he works at the country club and somehow ended up as the bunny.
it definitely makes the whole thing less creepy, don't you think?
trevor tried to get her to at least look up!
my husband is so cute. and preppy. i like him alot.
oh shelby.
well, at least we got a good loock at her latest favorite hair style!
cheese grandpa!
ah sunny California in april. nice, right?
cheese grandma! uh-oh shelby's shirt turned into a midrift!
after the trauma of the easter bunny we headed back to the house for a family easter egg hunt with trevor's cousin brent's 3 kids. it is such a fun dad thing to hide eggs for the kids. trevor and brent had such a good time. brent's oldest is 10, so some of the eggs were super well hidden. they loved finding the perfect hiding spots for all the eggs, matching egg colors to flowers, lifting up rocks to put eggs under, and putting eggs up in the trees! luckily there were lots of others that were in the bushes etc. for the younger kids. they were fair.
shelby and cami teamed up, being the only girls.
shelby liked this hunt way better than the one at the country club.
i think she loves a challenge!
cora and daddy enjoyed the view from the shade.
gasp! where is her headband! :)
it will be so cute next year when she will walk around and help big sister!
shelby enjoyed a fun egg toss during the hunt.
gosh she had a great time.
and she kept giving her eggs away to her cousins and they would try to give them back because they felt bad!
the kids watched aaron search for the last eggs.
some of them had dollar bills, which was insanely awesome for the kids.
they were flipping out.
and here was the golden egg! i love easter.
i think no matter when we visit the thompsons in the future, shelby will probably want to search for eggs. better stock up grandma and grandpa! :)
it's her new favorite thing ever.
group picture! grandpa curtis and mocha the dog wanted to join the kids.
what a cute dog. mocha the ham.
say easter bunny!
good times. and they day was about to get even crazier.
