can i say again how much i loved the snack options at disneyworld? shelby was so happy that there were fresh fruit and celery sticks with ranch dip. she was in heaven. we also had popcorn and ice cream dibs but honestly she preferred the fresh options. i am so proud i could cry.
mom, shelby, and i hung out for a little while in toon town, though there isn't much to the one at disneyworld. it was nice that at shelby's age she didn't care about going on rides. everything was fun to her! and i am so grateful that mom doesn't care about the rides that are too big for shelby. she doesn't go on rides such as thunder mountain railroad, splash mountain, or space mountain ever. so it was perfect. she hung out with baby girl and played at the winnie the pooh playground while the rest of us used our fast passes strategically to get on all of the rides we love. as a family we also went on buzz lightyear's ride and we were very competitive about who could get the most points. dad asked the guy working there for tips (secretly!) and won. he loves to win and he also loves arcade shooting games so it was pretty perfect for him. splash mountain was extra awesome and thunder mountain was fun as always. and you know those pictures they take while you are on the rides? well, i always always want to buy them. always. and the boys think they are a total waste. we got the ones from buzz lightyear because they were too funny. and i wanted the one from splash mountain so much, but they boys wouldn't wait for me! sigh. it was a good picture. oh well.
as a family we all went on small world because it is mom's favorite ride and she is awesome so we all go on it without complaining. i think shelby liked it. trevor enjoyed playing with our new mini video camera that is waterproof. he would dip it in the small world water just for fun and these little girls in the boat behind us were very concerned.
while we were on splash moutain, mom and dad hung out with shelby in tomorrow land. they had a dj out on a stage with cool music playing, mom said shelby went crazy when "single ladies" came on. and the characters were out dancing in the crowd so she got to dance with the chipmunks. i am sad that i missed it but splash mountain was worth it. trevor and i got to sit in front of the "log" and we tried to duck so that brett and richard would get soaked but instead our backs got all wet. it was a good try though.
we all enjoyed mickey's philharmonic 3-D show, though shelby would not keep on her glasses so i think it was slightly less exciting for her!
and since it was magic hours that night, trevor and dad waited in line for the special magic hours fast passes for space mountain. we love that ride and we love fast passes. i mean really, is there a better feeling than sprinting past a loooong line of people to get on a ride? after all these years of fast passes the feeling doesn't ever seem to wear off. we just want to yell "enjoy the line suckers!" but we don't. instead we smile smugly and high five each other at the front. gosh it's awesome. and we really hate lines. like when indiana jones first came to disneyland and the lines were 3-4 hours long? right! we just waited until we came back 2 years later and the lines were shorter. and this trip i swore up and down that we were not waiting in lines with shelby and luckily we didn't have to since during magic hours the lines for the little peter pan and snow white rides were down from the normal 40 (!!!) minutes to 5 minutes. thank goodness i have a night owl since we were there until after 1 am. also, shelby was tall enough to go on the autobahn car ride with trevor! luckily dad was in the car behind her so no one would be able to hit their car. 'cause they would get a punch in the face for that! brett and i rode together and we remembered quickly how slow and lame those cars are! they are only fun when you are 8 and can't even drive a golf cart yet.
one thing that was new for this disney trip was that lines for us and most other people in the modern world are no big deal because of our phones! we were all oh so entertained and didn't even have to talk to each other in line. :)
dad and mom: blackberries
richard, trevor, brett, and me: iphones
shelby: red minnie mouse phone (no kidding she is really playing with it there!)
and a personal thank you to tetris for my iphone. i love you.
we also went on the haunted mansion, because it is more fun at night. shelby wasn't scared one bit, she was possibly a little bored. and luckily we all caught the awesome fireworks before we left. fireworks never get old! by 1:30am we were ready to go home, though trevor and brett stayed at the park to ride space moutain one last time. oh and dad and richard wouldn't take a picture in front of the castle until it changed from purple. :) they crack me up.
especially you richard, you always crack me up. and you help with shelby a ton. i miss you so much!
