the don cesar

in st. petersburg there is a beautiful hotel called the don cesar. it is very old-florida classy and very pink.

or maybe salmon.

anyways, so in between conference sessions we went to the don cesar for easter brunch. we felt very classy. the brunch took up the whole top floor and there was a whole room just for the desserts! i wanted to take pictures but i felt like a nerd, so you will just have to imagine the hundreds of desserts and the ice cream cart and the fresh root beer floats and bunny cakes, not to mention all of the food that wasn't desserts!

at first shelby was not very excited
maybe she was embarrassed that she matched the decor and tablecloths
after she ate all of the cucumbers at the brunch, we gave her a peep cupcake
oh yeah.
got it!
biting the peep's head off is the funnest part. you should have seen her face when she bit into the cupcake and found out that it had jelly in the middle. jelly is positively sour compared to a peep!
my mom fit in very nicely with all of the ladies who were dressed in their easter best.
some women even wore hats!
the brunch was full of babies and kids, and as always shelby was the cutest and the loudest.
then we took some easter pics outside in the hot florida sunshine.
at first shelby wouldn't smile.
but then richard didn't smile!
luckily we got one good one. oh and p.s. people kept talking to richard like he was shelby's dad.
it happens, but we were still really annoyed. maybe i should make him an uncle pin or something.
mother-daughter easter moment! we missed daddy, he was having fun in fresno.
trevor and i used to take walks on the beach by the don cesar. and we even watched someone get married on the beach at the hotel too. we tried to wave so that we would be in the wedding video. good times.
i loved shelby's dress. thanks mom! it was perfect.
it was a great easter! after brunch we headed back to our hotel to listen to conference on the computer again. it was great! and it was also the first time my mom had ever not cooked on easter since like birth. and even though we didn't have shelby go on any easter egg hunts, she still got plenty of candy and had two easter baskets (one elmo and one lightning mcqueen) back home so it worked out just fine.
