some february updates

after-valentine's day sugar cookies anyone? mmmmmm. the frosting is my favorite buttercream of all time.

here is what greeted shelby and me in the morning this week. all four of them were asleep curled up together on the welcome mat when i lifted up the blinds. they quickly woke up and wanted their breakfast. we love our mean, wild kitties!

i sure love to dress shelby in bright colors. the children's place always delivers on the awesome bright colors and super washable clothes. and her little nike shoes kill me. the nurses at her 18 month appointment loved them!

she is 27 pounds 6 ounces and is 2' 9", 85 percentile in both! the doctor said she is just a big girl all around! i am so proud. and when shelby got upset (4 shots will do that to you) i told her we could go home and watch blues clues. she got so excited and did the blues clues motion with her hands. (it's like the motion from the primary popcorn popping song) my doctor immediately recognized it! "oh! she just did the blues clues thing!" she said i was lucky because her kids went through a serious barney phase. to quote my doctor "i was like, are you serious?" i love her, she cracks me up. and she didn't even make me feel bad for missing shelby's 15 month appointment. i didn't know there was one! total rookie mistake! she said that not all pediatricians do one, but she likes to split up the shots a little more. oh well.

and here is an example of why shelby is in the 85th percentile:

she's an eater! especially when it's spaghetti from whole foods. i was busy doing dishes, checking email, etc. while she was eating and so i was super proud when i saw that she had eaten everything. i even gave myself a little pat on the back for teaching her to feed herself. then i looked at the floor....

um, yeah. and there was even more in the seat itself. so we did laundry and had a good bath. no biggie. i remember when brett was shelby's age and would eat pasta. he would put alot on his head and on the floor. (brett hates when we talk about this kind of stuff!) anyways richard and i thought it was totally gross. and when shelby is at grandma's house and eats with brett he complains about how gross shelby is and about how annoying her loud toys and movies are- payback buddy! brett went through a major barney phase too and he liked blues clues so much that i know all the little jingles by heart still, 14 years later! btw i think barney is pretty cute. trevor is the one that can't stand it! or wonder pets. he hates that lisping duck. me and shelby disagree and watch both shows regularly. i actually LOVE wonder pets. my name is alisha and i am totally a mom.

shelby still loves ducks, even a duck that is actually a goose statue. and she has had that sweatshirt for about a year! here's to buying stuff way too big and making it last!

shelby is a bit of a collector. here she is wearing grandma cindy's pearl necklace, a pink sock on her hand, while holding a pencil, playing with a little workout ball, and apparently doing an ab workout? she also loves to take shopping bags and put her puzzle pieces in and carry them around. i definitely think we have lost a few things to the garbage cans as well. she hides her crayons in the couch cushions and loves to draw on herself and tonight on daddys iphone (!!!!!!!) no harm done. crayon wipes off. she almost lost her college fund on that one though.

and she is still in love with axel. she even loves watching him eat his treats. sometimes she will hand them to him one by one. she tries to feed him all of her food. but cats don't like miss vickie's sea salt and vinegar chips or raspberries. (two of shelby and my very favorite things, not together necessarily.)

axel loves her too. sort of. she pulls his tail and attacks him and he just lays there and takes it. so i guess any attention is good according to this cat. i yell at him and say "love isn't supposed to hurt!" ( i watch oprah). some cats will never learn.
