giving thanks.

we had a delicious and relaxing thanksgiving this year! grandma kathi and grandpa curtis came up to dublin this year and so trevor and i got to host our first official thanksgiving! it was the second most memorable thanksgiving meal, after thanksgiving 06 when we were in florida and it was so hot and we didn't want to go to anyone's house for thanksgiving and so we ate turkey sandwiches and went to the beach. it was awesome.

anyways, so here was the menu this year:
-green bean casserole-yummy and easy
-stove top stuffing- it doesn't get any better, we just ain't fancy
-spinach salad-my mother-in-law's favorite
-rolls, homemade gravy, cranberry sauce
-mashed sweet potatoes, really just for me and shelby but everyone (except trevor) was nice enough to try them too and...
-sliced new potatoes that trevor grilled with rosemary and olive oil because he HATES mashed potatoes, it's like a fun family tradition.
-a glorious turkey that trevor made. he went to williams sonoma and got all of the stuff and he was very nervous/excited. the big bird brined all night and then was covered in turkey paste and it was so amazing! it was seriously the best turkey i have ever had. so flavorful!
-for dessert, a pumpkin pie that was very classic and a refreshing fruit tart. it was very nice to have a light fruit dessert after a heavy meal. that may also become a tradition! great idea curtis!
grandma curtis and grandma kathi got to have some quality shelby time. grandpa, shelby, and trevor even went to the park to get all her wiggles out while everything cooked.
we have stray kittens in our side yard which we feed every day because we are such suckers for their sad, hungry faces. so we gave them a little thanksgiving feast, just some kitty food. but then after trevor carved the turkey he had a great idea and...
he just stuck the rest of the bird out there and we attracted every stray cat in the neighborhood and possibly the coyotes later that night! it was an awesome thanksgiving and i am so grateful for my family's many blessings!
