shelby's first zoo visit!

this weekend we visited the fresno chaffe zoo! it was awesome.

we saw a huge camel, he was stinky

and a cool anteater

and a crazy hamster-related rodent!

and a galapagos tortoise that sloooowly tried to walk over and bite trevor.

of course shelby, and the rest of us, were most excited about the squirrel that we fed popcorn!

she loved hanging out with grandpa curtis and grandma kathi. she showed them how to wave at every single animal in the place.

we saw a super fun bird show where none of the birds have clipped wings, so they could just fly away at any moment! they were trained really well though. (this pic was after the show) that hawk has been doing the show for 20 years 3 times a day and every single time he tried to kill the leather mouse. it was so cute. all of the birds flew over our heads and shelby LOVED it because birds are her favorite thing after cats and dogs. she calls everything a BIRD actually. like even me.

she really wanted to jump in and swim with the sting rays.

she was so entertained by it all.

and she also was super full of energy. she wore out her grandparents!

the bird sanctuaries are cool at the zoo because the birds are out in the open with you. i stopped to take a picture of this pretty bird. i kept walking and i felt a little prick on my heel. i turned around and he was trying to bite me!!!!! i ran and he chased me!

here he is trying to get through the door after trevor jokingly opened it again! ahhhhhh!

grandpa and shelby have so much fun together! they also had a really fun time with a giraffe that i will post about tomorrow. it was a definite bonding time for the two of them! ;)
