an uncle and his niece

we are so happy that richard is home this summer, especially shelby. these two besties love to get into all sorts of mischief and have lots of adventures!

using the baby as a projectile.

teaching shelby to drive.

teaching her to walk. (hey, let's stick with crawling for a while longer guys!)

watching the boys play basketball

enough with the walking!

quack! quack! this is weird uncle richard.

chillaxin.

weeeeee! i'm tall!

he's so protective!

a little private time.

richard even babysat for us by himself so that trevor and i could hang out with friends! not many single, super cool 24 year old guys would do that! he is so patient with her and plays with her for hours, literally.

but, one thing about having a cool uncle is that me, the mom, becomes the heavy! over and over, no! she can't eat that! no! she can't drink that! no! she just ate! and richard says, "shelby, your mom is so mean!" when did that happen???

giving her ice cream cake. not quite! my mom is a partner in crime for sure.

pepsi, right.

sonic slushy.

barbecue ribs.

not pictured: french fries!

but relax. just so everyone knows. no food or drink was actually consumed by shelby in any of these pictures, except for the french fries. so sue me.

funny story: my mom was looking at our baby books. me, i had bananas first and mom had a goal of me never having sugar until, like, never. richard had rice cereal first and then quickly built up to gnawing on entire steaks in his high chair. he is still very proud of those pictures. and brett? french fries. that's what happens when you are the baby and your siblings are 8 and 10 years old! mom couldn't stop us!
